Lions Bay Fire Rescue (LBFR)

 

The Lions Bay Fire Department has approximately 25 dedicated volunteers who serve the community and the travelling public along the Sea to Sky Highway.  Training sessions for fire department members are every Wednesday at 7:00 pm at the Emergency Building.  Contact Fire Chief Andrew Oliver for more information at 604-690-4908.

 

Requirements for New Recruits

(as of March 13, 2003)

Those persons interested in becoming members of Lions Bay Fire/Rescue are required to:

  • live in the Village of Lions Bay,
  • provide phone number and postal box number,
  • obtain a letter from the Village of Lions Bay requesting that the Squamish RCMP provide a criminal record check for the applicant,
  • provide a current criminal record check to the Village of Lions Bay,
  • provide a current BC driver’s abstract,
  • attend a minimum of 50% of calls once pager is received,
  • pay $250 towards first auto extrication course,
  • attend weekend training courses,
  • attend six (6) months of training on Wednesday nights consecutively,
  • once accepted as a member to the Lions Bay Fire/Rescue, the applicant is required to perform nine (9) hours of community service to Lions Bay Fire/Rescue.
