RECYCLING, GARBAGE & GREEN WASTE

Recycling:
(Collection Day: Tuesday)

Recycling is collected on Tuesday mornings.  Plastics (#1 through #7), glass, aluminum, tin, corrugated cardboard, newspaper and mixed paper are all recyclable products except for 'styrofoam-type' plastic products.  Blue bags for newspaper, yellow bags for mixed paper and blue boxes are available from the Village Office.  Recycling is to be placed at curbside after 5:00 AM on the morning of pickup.

Garbage:
(Collection Day: Wednesday)

Garbage is  picked up on Wednesday mornings.  Residents are requested to put their garbage at curbside after 5:00 AM on collection day to avoid attracting wildlife.  A limit of 2 garbage cans per home applies.  If residents have additional cans for collection, garbage tags can be purchased at the Village Office for $3 each.

When purchasing your garbage can please be aware that many cans are larger than 77 litres. Most garbage cans with wheels are 121 litres or larger. The Village of Lions Bay specifies no more than 154 litres per household per week. Therefore if you decide to buy larger cans be aware that if you fill them to capacity they may not be emptied.

Yard Trimmings:
(Collection Day: Wednesday)

Yard Trimmings are collected on the same day as garbage.  Use brown kraft paper bags or garbage cans clearly marked.  Stickers to put on 'Yard Trimmings' cans may be obtained at the Village Office at no cost.  Please do not use plastic bags for green waste.  Branches must be tied in bundles.  There is no limit on how many bags or cans residents can put out for collection.  Service runs from March 1 to November 30.
