 History of Lions Bay

The Lions Bay Historical Society (LBHS) began as a committee in 1990 and became a registered society in 1995.  In 1996, as part of the 25th anniversary of incorporation (1971-1996) celebrations, the LBHS sponsored a community-wide contest and selected the winning design, by local artist Victor Miles, for the Lions Bay municipal flag.  In 2001, the LBHS published a booklet, "The Village of Lions Bay:  Historical Passages from the 1790's to the present" to celebrate the Village's 30th anniversary of incorporation.  The goal of the LBHS is to promote public awareness and preserve the history of Lions Bay by publishing stories, displaying photographs and images at community events, collecting and cataloguing historical documents and information and through the sale of flags, flag stickers and the historical booklet.

Recently an article written by Tony Cox regarding the LBHS participation in the BC Historical Federation was published on Lionsbay.net.  Click HERE to read Tony's article.

To join the LBHS or purchase a copy of our flag stickers ($2) or historical booklet ($8), please contact the Chair, Myron Loutet at PO Box 571, Lions Bay, BC   V0N 2E0.
